I have over 40 years of working as an auditor, accounting manager, regional vice president, and lead cost/damages consultant and expert, leading teams to either prepare or defend construction or contract claims, set up project monitoring systems, or simply provide a specific answer for a project team that didn't want to pursue a dispute, just get reliable data.

My experience includes projects from $1 million to $6 billion including major infrastructure projects around the world as well as US Government projects, US Commercial Litigation, Mediation, International Arbitration, and statutory Courts of Contract Appeals.

Having seen time and money wasted on vague assignments to look at everything, a more intelligent and focused approach makes sense most of the time.  One doesn't preclude the other, but a stepped approach is generally more efficient, and provides better options as the work progresses. Never shoot without aiming first.

Every assignment begins with the basics: what does the contract expect or require? what happened? and what is the best way to quantify the issues?
